The communities right outside of Manhattan have been exploding in the last decade, following a fascinating economic transition in New York City. Neighborhoods within a few miles of Manhattan like Long Island City (LIC) are experiencing their own artistic Renaissance, and luxury rentals in LIC are in higher demand than ever.

Long Island City is perhaps the most “Manhattan-like” neighborhood surrounding Manhattan. It’s a prosperous haven for commuters, entrepreneurs, businesspeople, and creative artists, with culturally-
rich restaurants and a spree of things to do and see.

While Manhattan has become less accessible to the leaders of the future, nearby neighborhoods like Long Island City are seeing the staggering and accessible growth that many can now be a part of.

Lower Overall Costs Than Manhattan

It’s no secret that Manhattan is pricey, but new developments and the growth outward of its center are making a move near Manhattan more manageable, especially for those who want upscale accommodations. Neighboring communities, specifically Long Island City, are still seeing lower prices overall by a substantial margin in spite of massive growth. The luxury rentals in LIC still offer competitive prices so you can enjoy the world of Manhattan without paying staggering rent costs.

Restaurants

No NYC neighborhood is complete without an energetic culture around the one thing everyone can instantly relate to cuisine. Restaurants range from casual outdoor cafes to exquisite fine dining, all within walking distance of luxury rentals in LIC. You can find ramen, pizza, vegan food, Thai, and other selections virtually 24-7 without ever taking a taxi or Uber into Manhattan.

Things to Do

MoMA PS1 is one of the largest and most fascinating art museums in the country. The Noguchi Museum showcases the minimalist sculptural work of the late Isamu Noguchi among other selections. The Rockaway Brewing Company stands as one of NYC’s most exhilarating breweries. There are many things to do and attractions to see right in the proximity of Long Island City rentals. The above only scratches the surface.

Artistic Culture

Long Island City has its own local artist events and community along with access to Manhattan’s premier arts community, without the pressure of Manhattan rent prices. Local galleries, a vivacious art network, and easy entrance into Manhattan all contribute to making Long Island City one of the best places for those who appreciate art and for artists alike.

Parks and Quiet Time

The city center of NYC is a bustling epicenter of business. But sometimes, you want a little quiet time and reflection in a natural setting. Long Island City has a number of well-maintained parks that feature some of the most vivid and enthralling views of the Manhattan skyline and Hudson. A few of them include Gantry Plaza State Park and Hunters Point South Park, both of which have been extensively upgraded in recent years and now draw in visitors from all over New York City.

Before prices rise considerably, it is an exciting time to take a serious look at this area. Reach out to a representative at ARC by phone, at 718 – 489 – 2989, to see how you can find entry into a vivid new world of possibilities in one of our luxury LIC rentals.

Few places offer as many unique opportunities for personal and business growth than Long Island City (LIC), for career artists. With prices for luxury rentals in LIC being highly competitive along with similar cultural and networking opportunities of Manhattan without even having to leave the area, artists can thrive and develop their careers in this equally thriving and growing community.

Every amenity is available for personal success, with regions of Long Island City that feature multiple art galleries to showcase their works or training opportunities in micro-neighborhoods like Dutch Kills, Hunters Point.

No matter what type of artist you call yourself: writer, furniture artisan, sculptor, painter, musician, filmmaker, or part-time creative, you’ll love the cultural vibrancy and the remarkable setting of Long Island City to inspire you to achieve more than ever before.

A mixed use community with everything you need

As other observers have noted, Long Island City is quickly becoming a self-sustaining community for artists and other residents, where they can enjoy access to some of New York City’s most exciting art related events without being required to travel to Manhattan.

Throughout the area, artists will find at least one or more venues, groups or community organizations catered to their particular artform, with frequent networking events and parties run by galleries, non-profits and other long-established organizations.

Of course, Manhattan remains a critical nexus for many artists, and the best part of living in LIC luxury rentals is the fact that it’s only a few minutes away via the Court Square Station subway.

A unique local culture that draws creatives

Artists and creative types have certainly been drawn to the trend-setting style, cost, and diverse establishments of Long Island City, with many of them browsing the available luxury rentals in LIC in recent years and closing in on impressively competitive prices. Hundreds are available, with many more being launched in upcoming months.

Those who may still be undecided should speak to some of the current residents of the area, who are often very happy with the benefits such as a shorter commute, the impressive range of restaurants and boutiques, sprawling parks with memorable views, and very active and proud local community of people who stay far off the beaten path.

Perfect for commuters, businesspeople and other creative minds

Artists certainly aren’t the only group who have thrived in Long Island City and continue to be attracted here; businesspeople, entrepreneurs, commuters to Manhattan, and those who work in Long Island City itself at the many rapidly growing employers equally enjoy the same enlightening and fulfilling amenities.

The latest LIC luxury rentals such as those at ARC cater to the needs of each group, with facilities for personal or business events, extraordinary open floor plans with world-class comforts and facilities to work from the home office or to connect to any part of New York City with ease.

Long Island City has continued to become the home for trendsetters as a strong up and coming competitor to Manhattan. Before rental prices reach Manhattan levels, it may be a good idea to check out the luxury apartments at some of the top complexes like ARC.

Get more information on current availability by visiting http://arclivinglic.com/long-island-city-apartment-availability/ or feel free to call the leasing gallery at 718-ARC-3002.

The open space applies throughout the entire apartment, creating the standard free-flowing design that has become a defining characteristic of contemporary accommodations.

If you happen to be searching for Long Island City rentals to make your move here in the near future, you’ll get to explore these attractions and experience a distinct post-industrial culture that you won’t find elsewhere.

Below are a few of the most popular attractions and things to do in Long Island City to explore:

Several extraordinary waterfront parks

Long Island City is home to some of the most scenic waterfront parks on the Hudson with walkable areas that are full of pubs, restaurants, and shops to explore. Some of the most popular parks in Long Island City include Hunter’s Point South Park and Gantry Plaza State Park. Because of the recent renovations in the area, several of these parks have been recently revitalized with new amenities.

Gantry Plaza State Park is known for its lovely gardens and excellent views of Manhattan. The park is named after the industrial gantries which were restored and now serve as visual centerpieces and nods to the past throughout the park, providing a unique setting to relax and enjoy the waterside views.

Hunter’s Point South Park also has some lovely views of Manhattan from the ground. The area went through a major recent restoration project after it was an abandoned industrial site and with its now full range of amenities including a basketball court, dog run, and a large pavilion where live music and frequent events are held.

Long Island City offers quite a different vibe compared to Manhattan and other New York City boroughs. It has long been established as an “anti-cookiecutterism” community that goes against the trends. It’s now a hub where artists, entrepreneurs, and creatives of all types have gathered due to the close proximity to Midtown with a lower cost of living, several artistic venues, and other unique benefits to the area.

Long Island City was a former industrial center for decades before it recently went through a dramatic shift into a renovated and updated residential community. Today, it’s one of the most architecturally unique and diverse regions of New York City; a home to people of all backgrounds.

A brief history of Long Island City

Nearly the entire current area of Long Island City used to be an industrial epicenter for New York, including the neighborhoods of Ravenswood, Hunters Point, Dutch Kills, Steinway, and Astoria. It was first developed around 1861 after a Long Island Railroad terminal was constructed at Hunters Point.

Throughout the 1900s the area began to quickly grow with several new factories and commercial buildings sprouting up. Simultaneously, residential complexes were built to accommodate the demand for those who started to prefer living in the area compared to the more crowded conditions of Manhattan. Toward the end of the 20th century, several of the industrial companies relocated while art galleries and museums moved in. The community started to make a shift toward the creative and eclectic post-industrial culture that it’s now known for.

Unique architecture and scenery

Long Island City now continues to have its own independent local culture and vibe compared to Manhattan, shaped by the ghosts of its industrial past. Developers have capitalized on the area’s proximity to Manhattan and lower costs while launching several exciting new commercial and residential structures.

Many of the former industrial buildings in Long Island City still stand today and have been repurposed, such as the famous Silvercup Studios which is located in the former building of Silvercup Bakery. A nearby I-beam manufacturing plant was also later converted into a film studio by the Suna family, the founders of Silvercup Studios.

These are just a few examples of the dozens of other industrial buildings have been repurposed into restaurants, artistic venues, and galleries. Today the community includes a mixture of older commercial and industrial buildings as well as several modern and recently constructed buildings. These developments helped Long Island City turn into the popular arts-centered community it is today.

Now a lively arts centered community

With a quick tour of Long Island City, you’ll see that it’s very different from Manhattan and the other boroughs. You’ll find incredible waterfront parks, a wide range of different architectural styles, restored buildings, art galleries, and unique stores and boutiques throughout the area.

You’ll find art just about everywhere in Long Island City, from the outdoor sculpture parks in the area, to the MoMA PS1 and a variety of other specialized art galleries, to frequent community events, and extraordinary painted murals on the side of buildings.

With a distinct personality and a community of trailblazers rather than followers, Long Island City and its new luxury apartment complexes like ARC have become top residential destinations for creatives of all types. Artistic, cultural, and cuisine trends are set in Long Island City every day, making the community a true definition of anti-cookiecutterism.
